What’s happening with those unwanted pallets?

Some of the participants of  the Good Wood project, with trainers Maria Gibson (centre) and  Chris Crogan (far left)

Untapped Resource were successful in securing ESF : Skills Funding Council  funding through Enable to deliver a training  programme  based on  recycling  and utilising materials to make  useful items, mainly out of wood. The Good Wood Project worked with long term unemployed people and helped to develop their recycling and wood work skills to make useful wood products ranging from key holders to garden benches and planters.

It is hoped that the programme will be able to continue into a sustainable business, making bespoke wooden garden furniture.

Teresa Jackson of Untapped Resource said “I was amazed at some of the lovely items people made. People were justifiably proud at the things they designed and made. The whole program surpassed my initial expectations”

It is hoped the course will support employability skills  that will lead  people into  work, already two people  have found work  and two are  lined up for apprenticeships as a result of the programme.

Anyone looking for bespoke furniture should contact us on 01623 423321.  We sell direct to the public but are also looking for commercial companies to stock our goods. We also have remnants from the pallets for fire wood @ £3.00 for 7 kilos.
